About State Government Publications Online

The Nebraska Publications Clearinghouse Service of the Nebraska Library Commission has been helping Nebraskans find government information by collecting Nebraska state agency publications, listing them in our online catalog, and lending them to the public since 1972. Major publications are also microfilmed for preservation, and were distributed on microfiche to 14 Nebraska depository libraries until 2005.

Internet technology has created additional venues for providing public access to government information. In 1997 State Government Publications Online was launched to digitize and post key agency publications on the Commission web site. Now most Nebraska state agencies post publications on their own web sites, and we link to them from State Government Publications Online. In 2005, to provide stable access for users, we began downloading key publications from agency sites to our server and linking to the downloaded versions.

The Commission also offers a "Documents on Demand" service enabling Nebraskans to contact the Library Commission and request that state agency publications in our collection be scanned and posted on the web site.

Viewing Publications

Publications are listed alphabetically by agency name. Some are in .pdf format, which makes the electronic version of the document look the same as it appears in print. To view them users must download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. The site does not list every item on agency web pages. Reports, newsletters and directories will be listed. Forms are usually not included.

Accessing Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files for the blind or vision impaired.
