Welcome to Nebraska Public Documents!

The Nebraska Public Documents database provides free and public access to digitized Nebraska state government agency annual reports from the 1870's through 1956, for the use of students, scholars, and the general public. Through this digitzation project, we provide keyword searching options never before available. All documents have been rescanned, with searching, printing and downloading capabilities added and enhanced. Gaps in the reports are being added as they are located and digitized.

This site is made possible through the funding and support of the Nebraska Library Commission, the Nebraska State Records Board, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, the Center for Digital Research in the Humanities at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and Nebraska State Historical Society.

Description

Nebraska Public Documents is a publication comparable to the federal U.S. Serial Set but for the State of Nebraska. Until 2007, the publication was not widely available, often in fragile condition, and not indexed. Digitization of these documents was first proposed in 2006 by James Shaw, government documents librarian at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Based on Jim's original idea, the following institutions wholeheartedly jumped on board:

All of these partners have contributed funding and/or staff time to the project.
